The Targaryens remain secure upon the throne, yet the sudden deaths and upheaval have reminded the realm how quickly established order can fail.

Beneath the recovery, old divisions are stirring. The First Blackfyre Rebellion ended years ago, but its loyalties were never entirely extinguished. Exiles remain across the Narrow Sea, defeated houses remember old grievances, and quiet correspondence passes between those who once supported the black dragon. Rumours of Bittersteel and the surviving Blackfyres travel alongside merchants and returning knights. Nothing has yet risen to open rebellion, but in a weakened realm, old ambitions are beginning to look possible again.

Summerhall stands among the green foothills of the Dornish Marches, home to Prince Maekar Targaryen and his household. Prince Aerion has recently returned from exile in Lys, ostensibly drawn home by the sickness and the losses suffered by his family. Summerhall has become a place where old enemies live beneath the same roof and every rumour carries the possibility of renewed rebellion.
