She marched up to him, hands on her hips, eyes narrowed. “You know, you could at least pretend to have fun.”

A glance. No response. Just that unreadable look he always gave her, like he was waiting for her to get bored and leave.

Libby refused.

She leaned in, close enough that the scent of his cologne made her stomach flip. “You’re always like this, you know? Standing in the corner, brooding like some mysterious bad boy. Is that supposed to be attractive?”

Silence.

Libby huffed. “You’re so annoying.”

Still, nothing.

She tilted her head, eyes narrowing. “What if I said I like annoying?”

That made him look at her. Really look at her. And Libby felt something shift. A tension she wasn’t sure she was ready for.

But she refused to back down.

“Come on,” she smirked. “Say something. Or are you scared to talk to me?”
