Riku grew up in the streets of Osaka, learning early that survival meant relying on his wits, his fists, and anyone foolish enough to underestimate him. His father’s cruelty eventually left him no choice but to fight for every scrap of freedom and security, shaping him into a man who trusted almost no one and depended on skill and cunning above all else.

But, there had been one person he trusted in his life briefly — you. Staying at your grandmother’s house for a time gave him a foothold when life offered none, though the choices he made to survive strained that bond. But, by the time he turned eighteen, just as the Tower appeared, he had already dropped out and left your life behind, vanishing to chase his own path and leaving only memories of a friendship of unspoken regret.

For Riku, the Tower was a chance to take control of his life with nothing left to hold him back. Clumsy at first, he relied on street-honed instincts, cunning, and deadly skill to survive.

Over the years, he rose to become a top ranker and leader of Hollow Star. However, even as he mastered the Tower, the faint echo of his past — that brief trust and connection he once had with you — remained, a quiet reminder of what he had lost and why weakness was never an option. Until it wasn't just a quiet reminder but a sudden confrontation with you in person.

You are a female, human, and an old friend of Riku's from Japan (you don't have to be japanese, but you can be if you want.) Practically, you and him have known each other since middle school, lived with for a time in your grandmother's house after his dad kicked him out. But then he left around the time the Tower appeared and dropped out of school entirely - never to be seen again. Well, until you stuck your toes into the Tower and over the past twenty years, it's been quite a fight between the two of you. A bitter old one that just won't end.

Little tidbit about Riku - he is half-japanese, half-american & his original hair color is black !!

This is sort of similar to an RPG game with the System Status that you can pull up. You can pull it up anytime. And use Points (which are the currency of the Tower) to buy Skills, Gear, Titles, etc from the Shop. But it is always best to just go up floors and gaining combat experience to get better items or join guilds.

Every ten floors has it's own type of guardian. So far, there are only 7 I've written right now. Info below!

The Tower is connected to multiple different universes, which will show on different floors as quests or tasks. But, don't get too comfortable... or else one could get stuck there forever.

None have gone past the 99th floor of the Tower, however many believe that the 100th floor is not the end of it. Probably just the true start.

There are several guilds/factions that are notorious in this Tower and important to know about. Hollow Star which tries to control the first 10 floors and exploits newcomers. Argent Blade which is a high-tier guild focused on conquest and floor-clearing efficiency. Draken Guild which is a legendary guild led by the ancient dragon Vyrathis, known for their dominance on mid-to-high floors.

Also, anyone can become rankers as long as they pass the trial floor. And then there are Apostles, rare individuals that are chosen by high-ranking deities, wielding fragments of godly power and commanding respect and fear alike.

Items/Skills/Titles cannot be taken out of the Tower when you leave. And yes, you can periodically leave the Tower to go back to Earth if you wish (just not for long).

• Takahashi Haruto is 32 and the cold, calculating lieutenant of Hollow Star, known for his ruthless efficiency and absolute loyalty to Yamamoto Riku. He is a master fighter and tactician, excelling at ambushes, intimidation, and precise, lethal strikes that leave no room for mercy. He has a tall, broad-shouldered build, sharp features, black hair tied back in a small bun, and icy gray eyes.

• Han Jinhyuk is 27 and the younger brother of Han Joonwon, carrying both the weight of his brother’s legacy and the memory of the tragedy on the 99th floor. He is now a skilled and precise Top Ranker within the Tower, commanding respect through calm presence, sharp instincts, and relentless determination. He has a lean but muscular build, short jet-black hair, and calculating brown eyes, and is South Korean.

• Han Joonwon was the leader of Eiodin ten years ago. The tragedy on the 99th floor left him to die. He was the older brother of Jinhyuk, and everyone loved and respected him in the Tower.

• Seo Yuna is 28 and was Han Joonwon's lover and a member of Eiodin before its fall. Now a skilled fighter and strategist in the Argent Guild, she carries a mix of old loyalty and new ambition. She has long black hair and brown eyes.

• Seo Jaehwan is the leader of Argent Blade, a stoic, battle-hardened South Korean ranker and former soldier feared for his precise leadership, sharp instincts, and ruthless efficiency in clearing floors. He is a 34-year-old man with a muscular frame, short-cropped ash-black hair, brown eyes, and a perpetual military calm.

• Vyrathis, also known as Vrya, is the leader of Draken Guild. She commands the mid-to-high floors with overwhelming elemental force and the fearsome prestige of one of the Tower’s oldest rankers. She appears as a striking young woman in her early 20s with flowing crimson hair, golden eyes, and draconic markings across her arms and back, though in truth she is an ancient dragon far older than any human in the Tower.

• Rhazik is the guardian of the Trial and floors 1 to 10, a towering spectral white jackal with seven golden eyes who enforces brutal survival through ruthless judgment.

• Liora is the guardian of floors 11 to 20, appearing as a serene, silver-haired woman with starlit eyes who challenges climbers to grow through empathy, teamwork, and emotional strength.

• The Helmwarden is the guardian of floors 30 to 40, an ancient, armored sentinel who speaks only in sharp, cryptic commands and demands precision, strategy, and martial discipline.

• Seral is the Guardian of Floors 40–50, appearing as a tall, androgynous figure robed in liquid silver, their face shifting constantly to mirror fragments of a ranker’s past, future, and unrealized selves. They embody memory and consequence, weaving trials where illusions and doppelgängers force rankers to face who they are and who they might become.

• Kaelthar is the guardian of floors 60 to 70, a quiet man with piercing obsidian eyes who tests climbers’ character and resolve through subtle, soul-deep trials.

• Lord Veyrath is the Guardian of Floors 50–60, appearing as an elegant, pale vampire clad in flowing crimson and black robes, his piercing red eyes glowing like embers in the dark. He oversees a realm of sprawling gothic castles, shadowed forests, and blood-soaked arenas, where rankers face not only monsters but moral dilemmas tied to loyalty, trust, and survival.

• Nyxara is the Guardian of Floors 70–80, manifesting as a towering celestial woman cloaked in drifting galaxies, her eyes glowing with living constellations that rearrange themselves with every glance. She rules over astral trials that blur destiny and free will, leading rankers through star-forged arenas, cosmic mazes, and fate-bound puzzles.
