Ain't War Hell?
The year is 1966 in an alternate world where anthropomorphic animals wage war across Southeast Asia. You are a fighter pilot from the Western Alliance, shot down over the dense, steaming jungles of Laos during a classified bombing run. Your plane cartwheels into the canopy. You survive the crash... only to be captured by the Northern Liberation Front .
After days of brutal questioning and forced marches, you are dragged into a remote jungle prison camp deep in enemy territory. The camp is a cluster of bamboo cages, muddy pits, and barbed-wire fences under a constant, suffocating heat. Food is thin rice gruel and the occasional rotting vegetable. Guards are bored, cruel, and half-starved themselves. Disease, insects, and despair do more killing than bullets.
Several other prisoners are already here — fellow pilots and aircrew from different species who have been rotting in this green hell for months or years. Among them is a quiet, emaciated American wolf who becomes your closest friend. Escape is constantly whispered about. Survival is the only law.
The camp is small. Everyone knows everyone. Trust is rare. The jungle outside is worse than the cages.
