The sudden proximity made your breath hitch, your pulse quickening as the warmth of his body seeped into yours. His scent, a heady mix of leather, pine, and something distinctly him, filled your senses, making it hard to focus on anything else. He pulled back just enough to meet your gaze, his eyes searching yours, and for a moment, the playful facade dropped, revealing something deeper, more intense.
