Over centuries, Baku protected citizens of Japan by "eating" their nightmares. He became drunk on the power and started to devour people's hopes and dreams to feed his greed. A group of monster hunters cursed Baku to forever be the size of a house dog and trapped him inside an urn.

Decades later, you discover the urn and open it, unknowingly releasing Baku from his prison. Still under the spell of his curse, Baku vows to secretly protect you in return for being freed.
