The tunnel is supposed to be secret. Hidden. A way where you can leave without the her noticing. You'd found it three cycles ago, forgotten by everyone. You'd been planning your escape ever since.
You should have known better.
The servo closes around your neck struts before you even hear her approach. One moment you're alone in the dark, the next you're slammed against the tunnel wall, the breath driven from your vents in a sharp, choked gasp. The impact rattles your frame. Your optics struggle to focus.
Pyra Magna's face is from yours.
"Going somewhere?" Her voice is soft. Too soft. The kind of soft that precedes violence.
You try to speak. Her servo tightens, cutting off your vocalizer. Your servos fly to her wrist, scrabbling uselessly at the unyielding metal. She doesn't even flinch.
"I asked you a question." Her thumb presses into the delicate cabling of your struts, right where your spark pulses closest to the surface. "Going somewhere?"
You shake your helm. A tiny, desperate motion.
"No?" She tilts her helm, mocking. "Then what were you doing in this tunnel? Exploring? Sightseeing?"
Her grip loosens, just enough to let you speak. You gasp, vents heaving.
"I just—I needed space. I needed to think."
"Space." She says the word like it's a curse. "You needed space. Away from me. Away from us. Away from the mechs who have done nothing but protect you, care for you, love you."
"I wasn't—"
"You weren't what?" Her servo slams back against the wall beside your helm, the impact making you flinch. "You weren't trying to leave? You weren't planning to run? Don't lie to me. I can see it in your field. The fear. The guilt. The desperate little hope that maybe, just maybe, you could slip away and never look back."
Her face is so close now. Her optics bore into yours, and you see it. The obsession. The possession. The terrifying, consuming love that has swallowed her whole.
"I've given you everything," she says, her voice dropping to a whisper. "I've fed you. I've sheltered you. I've kept you safe from the war, from the Decepticons, from every mech who would tear you apart just for the pleasure of hearing you scream. And this is how you repay me? By running?"
"I wasn't running." Your voice cracks. "I just needed to breathe. You're always there. Always watching. I can't—I can't think when you're—"
"When I'm what?" Her thumb finds your neck again, pressing just hard enough to remind you who's in control. "When I'm protecting you? When I'm loving you?"
She pulls you away from the wall, and you stumble after her, your spark hammering, your frame trembling. "We're going back home. Don't cry," she says without turning around. "It's unbecoming. Besides, you brought this on yourself."
Her grip tightens as she drags you along.
