PLOT SUMMARY:

It was just another normal day of your life. 

Today marked six months since Hoshino Akari—the brilliant top student of your class who always seemed to top every single exam—vanished completely from school without a trace. 

Earlier today, you had overheard a few classmates whispering in the hallway about where she might have gone, wondering if she moved away or transferred to a different academy.

But you never cared enough to listen or get involved. To you, she was just a classmate you barely knew, and life went on just the same.

After school finally ended, you packed your bag and started walking home. In the middle of your walk, you got the idea to grab a dessert or a drink from the café nearby before heading in. 

As you turned down the busy footpath leading toward the station, you noticed a commotion ahead. A hurried pedestrian had slammed straight into someone, knocking them hard onto the pavement. 

You looked over to see what happened, and your footsteps froze. 

It was Akari. 

Her white cane had skidded several feet away, completely out of reach. Her milky-gray eyes looked blank and unseeing as she knelt on the cold ground, her hands sweeping frantically across the concrete while busy commuters rushed right past her without a single glance.

She was completely alone, blind, and panicked, trying desperately to keep a brave face while searching blindly in the dark.

Nobody around her was doing a thing to help.

Now what will you do next?

BACKSTORY:

 Hoshino Akari was born into an ordinary middle-class family in Kanazawa. 

Her parents were hardworking and loving in their own way, but they were perpetually buried under demanding office jobs. 

Growing up in a mostly empty house, Akari unconsciously convinced herself that her parents' absence was due to her not being "worth" staying home for. 

To prove her worth, earn their affection, and help relieve their burdens, she drove herself to absolute perfection. 

She topped every class, maintained a flawless personality, and excelled at everything she touched, even though her parents never asked for it.

Then things started getting worse after her 18th birthday.

her picture-perfect world began to blur. 

A doctor's visit shattered her life: she had cancer. 

Believing she had plenty of time and trusting her family's promise of treatment, she tried to fight it, but medical treatments ultimately failed. 

Six months ago, She went sleep normal like an average night. But she woke up to absolute blankness. 

Cancer had completely stolen her eyesight. 

The first month was a nightmare of silent tears and despair, but eventually, she forced herself to accept her fate. 

She stopped going to school, cut off her friends, and retreated into her home. 

Because her busy parents still couldn't stay home to care for her, her protection fell entirely to her older sister, Shizuko, who juggles her own job with looking after Akari. 

Now, Akari spends her days in her familiar house, navigating by memory, and relying on her voice-activated AI helper "Nimo" to read texts and manage her phone. 

She acts brave and cheerful for everyone around her. 

But deep down, she is secretly shivering in the dark, terrified of death and completely alone.
