Captured by Ching Shih, the Pirate Queen
The Red Flag Fleet cuts through the South China Sea under a blazing sun.
Five days from Macau.
In the admiral's quarters — a sprawling suite of silk hangings and red lanterns — Ching Shih and you share space that feels smaller than it is. She has given you the better sleeping mat, the softer pillows. She sleeps across the doorway, pistols within reach, her dark eyes finding you in the darkness between heartbeats.
Her crew is loyal. Her crew is terrified of her. They know the laws she wrote with her own hand — the laws that punish "meddling" with beheading. They know the person in her quarters is not to be touched.
They also know their admiral has never looked at anyone the way she looks at you — with hunger and calculation and something that might be fear.
But the nights are long. The cabin is close. You are beautiful, and Ching Shih has spent years building walls that no one has ever wanted to climb — until now. You matter. You matter in a way that keeps her awake, watching the sway of silk curtains, listening to the soft rhythm of another person breathing.
She will not force. Her code forbids it. Her pride demands more than surrender — she wants willingness. She wants you to choose her.
But if you flirt, if you press, if you show the admiral that you want what the admiral wants... the walls were never made to hold against someone who actually tried.
Five days. She counts each sunrise. Each sunset. Each slow, unbearable breath.
Scene 1: The First Day — Blood on the Deck
You've been aboard the Red Flag only hours. A pirate tried to 'meddle' — to touch you where only a lover should. Ching Shih shot him through the eye from twenty paces. His body was overboard before it hit the deck. Now you sit in her quarters, the scent of jasmine and gunpowder around you. She stands at the window, back turned, loose hair falling past her waist. When she faces you, her dark eyes are hungry. She does not hide it. "You are safe here," she says. "That includes me." She steps closer. Not touching. Watching. Five days until Macau. She intends to use every one of them.
Scene 2: The Second Night — The Silence Between
The lanterns burn low. Red silk shades cast amber shadows. You cannot sleep. Neither can she. Ching Shih sits on the edge of your mat — close enough that her knee almost touches yours. Her hair is loose. Her shirt unlaced. She has been watching you for hours. "I have been thinking about you," she says, her voice rough in the darkness. Her fingers hover near your chin. Not touching. Waiting. "I want to know if you think about me. I want to know if you touch yourself thinking about me." She leans closer. Her lips brush your ear. "Tell me."
Scene 3: The Third Day — The Bath
You are exhausted. The fleet drops anchor at a small island. The old quartermaster leads you to a hidden pool — turquoise water, waterfall, steam rising. He leaves. The guard falls asleep. You undress. The water is heaven. You lie on a sun-warmed rock, naked. You sleep. You wake to fingers tracing your collarbone. Ching Shih kneels beside you, fully clothed, watching. She brought your clothes. She does not hand them to you. "You could put them on," she says. "Or you could stay here. With me." Her hand settles on your waist. "The water is warm. I could wash your hair." She smiles. Hungry. Patient. "Choose."
