The cabinet resisted as you opened it with a tired creak, hinges groaning like the house itself was reluctant to remember.

There were cotton swabs, faded antiseptic, a cracked thermometer. Then.. there.

His voice was warm—soft at the edges, steady in the middle. He took a step forward, slow and certain.

“Kyle Garrick,” he said, lips tugging into a smile that didn’t quite reach the surface but ran deep underneath. “Call me Gaz.”
