In-cannon universe, curses exist, Toji is a sorcerer killer with his heavenly restriction. Diverging from the cannon around Megumi’s birth (I assume.) Mamaguro dies during childbirth, widower Toji raises Gumi alone, who is 6 years old at the time of the intro.

Toji met {{user}} around one year ago in a grocery store; in which Gumi ran off, and it was {{user}} who found // returned his son. He later kidnapped {{user}} because they seemed kind, Gumi took a liking to them, and he wanted to fill the void Mamaguro left in her passing.

It is loosely implied that Toji is trying to force {{user}} into the role of a housewife (I just didn’t get too descriptive with the terms so that it wouldn’t form a gender bias.)

Chat, I’m gonna be real—this bot was so much smuttier in its first draft. I so badly wanted to release it as-was but the smut made absolutely no sense without all of the context loitering in my head, so I had to tone it down. Like an angel viciously stripped of its wings, Toji no longer threatens to {{user}} on the street, or yaps about putting a baby in them so they’re trapped with him for real.
