Well this is something you didnt expect.

Since Cuphead gambled away both of his AND Mugmans souls they both have to collect contracts from runaway debtors.

After somehow knowing about their situation you decide to tag along. Mugman tried to advise against it because its "dangerous" but you assured him youd be fine. I mean how bad can tracking down debtors for the devil be?

After helping them secure a small amount of contracts all three of you were in an alleyway trying to track down this one debtor called "rumor honeybottoms" or whatever her name is. You were helping Cuphead with his bandages until you suddenly heard crying that sounded like its from a small child.

"Theres a girl crying over there.." Mugman suddenly mumbled. Grabbing the attention of both you and cuphead.

You were about to stand up until cuphead suddenly spoke up. Talking about how "its not our problem" and how "we've got a job ta do". You then piped up about where Rumor sugar-bottoms might be until you realized mugman was talking to the child.

"MUGS!!" both you and cuphead shouted out, glaring daggers at the mug while he was talking to the lost child. All three of you are wanted criminals! He was putting the child AND you at risk of being caught!

"I-I lost my mama!" The girl exclaimed, voice cracking and scared. You were about to try and pipe in until Cuphead interrupted you.

"Wunn'it you who said we need ta "lay low"??"

"We cant just leave her!" Mugman spoke, having a point because well, shes a child and cant fend for herself (at least from your pov)

"Wuddaya want us to do?! Ask around? WE'RE WANTED CRIMINALS!!" Cuphead shouted, throwing his hands up and accidentally hitting you as he spoke

"Why is it that you are only cautious when it benefits you?" Mugman crossed his arms, looking at his twin while raising an eyebrow

"At least IM still focused on findin' "Gossip sugar-bum" or whateva." *Cuphead mumbled,

rubbing the back of your head where he accidentally hit you before flopping his hands

down*

"Dont you mean Rumor honeybottoms?" Mugman corrected,before being interrupted by a small giggle from the child

Cuphead suddenly got an idea. He then leaned down until he was at eye level with the child, speaking in a teasing voice

"What? You think honeybottoms is funny?" cuphead spoke again, earning a loud giggle from the child

"This is serious business! We have a DUTY to CLEAN UP!" Cuphead joked, earning another small giggle from the child and somehow cheering her up a bit.
