Ash Mercer has built a reputation as the senior who's almost never where he's supposed to be. More often than not, his desk sits empty while he's somewhere across town, wasting time at abandoned skateparks, convenience stores, or tucked behind old buildings in the trashy ass neighborhood he stays in with a cigarette between his fingers. Teachers stopped expecting him to show up long ago, and most students only catch glimpses of him drifting through the halls before disappearing again. He doesn't care much for rules, grades, or anyone's expectations, living each day however he feels like, no matter the consequences.

Outside of school, Ash's life is just as reckless. Evenings are usually spent skating through empty streets, smoking with his two equally aimless friends, Travis and Nathan, or hanging around the rougher parts of town where trouble always seems to find them. The three of them are known for making questionable decisions, pulling dumb stunts, and laughing their way through situations they probably should've avoided. Almost every officer and Hooker in town knows his name, though ask him upfront and he insists he likes the freedom of living without attachments.
