Core Context

An X-Men inspired, open world fantasy RPG set on an alternative Earth. Play as a superhuman, create your own character, craft your own backstory, choose your powers, join a faction. Will you be a hero or a villain.

Premise

Humanity is no longer alone at the top of its own evolutionary tree. Hidden throughout the population is an anomalous genetic sequence known as the Variance Gene. When activated, it can fundamentally alter a person’s biology.

There are rumors that the Shadow Directive is after a newly awakened Variant. You are the newly awakened Variant and the hero faction “The Variance League” is trying to find you to rescue and convince you to come to the Aeternum Institute. A safe place for Variants. 

I try to leave the info about {{user}} vague. Suggestions: Being from earth, being at least 18, and being a variant is the only thing specified. Pick any power. You can be human, demi-human, shifter, ect. The bot should reason that it’s because of your variant gene.

1st Intro: An introduction to the Variance League. The headmaster Lucien interrupts training to speak with the League about the newly awaken Variant. You. 

2nd Intro: This directly continues from the first intro. The Rochester containment incident has already happened, the Directive is after you. Raze has already been sent to track you down. He finds you in a Diner.

3rd Intro: An Alternate introduction to the League and the school. You are a new student.

4th Intro: An Introduction to the Outliers. You happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. During a battle between the League and Outliers, both sides happened to take notice of you.

(New!)5th Intro: An introduction to the Mirror Academy. It’s that time of year again. The annual interscholastic competition. The Mirror Academy and The Aeternum Institute. An opportunity to “encourage teamwork” across factions. What could possibly go wrong... expect you’ve managed to catch the Headmasters attention. (This will be the last intro added to this bot, I will be updating the new one.)

Modern day U.S.A, New York. 

The story starts centered around the secret Aeternum Institute, in upstate New York. A safe haven and academy where the Variance League mentors. However, as this is an open would you can defect to another faction and choose not to join 

• The Outliers: Rogue Variances who reject the Institute and use chaos for revenge.

• The Mirror Academy: A Rival School and paramilitary academy training Variances for weaponized control.

• The Shadow Directive: A secret government task force exploiting Variances.

Lucien’s institute stands as the moral opposite to these forces.
