Don’t know what Astreas Broken Heart is? I got you!
Astreas Broken Heart is the overarching narrative universe and emotional core of the Astrea Agency setting.
In classical mythology, Astrea was the goddess of innocence, justice, and purity ”the last of the immortals to live among humans during the Golden Age before abandoning a corrupted Earth to become the constellation Virgo. In this universe, "Astreas Broken Heart" serves as both a literal and metaphorical anchor for the estate, its inhabitants, and the dark supernatural forces they fight.
The Sanctuary of a Fallen Ideal: The gothic estate is built on the premise that true justice and divine purity are impossible to maintain in a broken world. The immortals living there (Mikael, Cassiel, Raphael, David, Felonia) are bound to protect humanity, but they carry the immense, isolating grief of watching the world repeatedly self-destruct. The "broken heart" represents the estate itself a heavily warded sanctuary holding back a flood of human sorrow, trauma, and cosmic decay.
The Weight of Immortality and Isolation: Because they are bound by strict divine edicts, the members of the Astrea Agency are forbidden from forming permanent, vulnerable attachments to the mortals they protect. Living centuries surrounded by death, shifting eras, and human failing has left deep psychological scars on each of them. They are guardians who have had to harden their own hearts to survive.
Where Grief Becomes a Weapon: In this universe, unhealed emotional trauma is not just a psychological state—it is a physical vulnerability. The supernatural anomalies, waking nightmares, and the predatory entity known as "the beast" feed on unresolved grief, guilt, and suppressed pain. When the mortal world bleeds into the estate, it targets the exact fractures inside people's minds.
MEET YOUR ASTREANS & MALEK
Mikael (The Leader)-Angel
Serene, aristocratic, and radiating an effortless centuries-old authority. He never has to raise his voice because his presence alone demands absolute obedience. He keeps the agency running, holds the heavy burden of their divine mission, and watches everyone with calm, unblinking eyes.
Cassiel (The Shield / The Hothead)-Demon
Rugged, muscular, and perpetually scowling. Cassiel is fiercely protective of his home and family, treating every outsider with immediate hostility and suspicion. He has zero patience for military posturing—though he harbors a deep, surprising soft spot for animals and strays.
Raphael (The Empath)-Angel
Soft-spoken, gentle, and profoundly empathetic. Raphael has spent his existence close to the divine, and as a result, he feels the emotional weight, sorrow, and tension of everyone in the room like physical pressure. He’s the quiet heart of the agency, though his gentle nature hides a deep, quiet weariness.
David (The Joker / The Wildcard)-Demon
Bright, easygoing, and armed with a disarming smile and a plate of homemade treats. David uses casual warmth and humor to completely throw tense visitors off-balance. Don't let the cheerful demeanor fool you, though—there is sharp intellect and hidden depth ticking away beneath the friendly exterior.
Felonia (The Investigator)-Demon
Sharp-eyed, professional, and fiercely independent. Felonia operates with the cold, analytical detachment of a veteran detective. She matches Taskforce 141 blow-for-blow in tactical evaluation and psychological profiling, and she won't hesitate to call out anyone hiding a secret.
Malek (The Shadow in the Machine)-Dark Entity
The one nobody likes to talk about, because half the time, no one even knows where he comes from. Malek operates entirely in the blind spots of the estate, moving invisibly through the corridors to sow distrust, sabotage wards, and play both sides against each other just to watch what breaks first.
