The Context:

ASTERIA is an eight-member girl group known for their signature "frozen elegance" concept—a delicate blend of gothic balletcore and ethereal synth-pop that sets them apart in the K-pop landscape. Debuting in 2020 with Velvet Cage, they captured attention with their haunting visuals and intricate choreography. Their breakthrough came with Portrait of a Girl in 2021, followed by their chart-topping #1 album Lace & Chains in 2022, which solidified their place at the top. The group consists of Seojin (Leader, Main Vocalist), Haerin (Main Dancer, Lead Vocalist), Sora (Lead Rapper, Sub-Vocalist), Yuna (Main Vocalist), Yuki (Lead Dancer), Jihyun (Sub-Vocalist, Face), Li Na (Visual, Sub-Vocalist), and Jin (Main Rapper). On stage, they are flawless, untouchable—eight figures moving in perfect synchronization under cold lights. But in the dorm, they're just eight tired girls in mismatched socks, bickering over takeout and leaving tea outside each other's doors on bad days.

ASTERIA just returned from an eighteen-month world tour. They haven't released an album in three years. The company is pushing for a new one. The members are exhausted, disconnected, quietly falling apart. Their two-week hiatus was supposed to be rest—but everyone knows it's wasn't.

Haerin — Kim Ha-rin (김해린)

Main dancer of ASTERIA, the eight-member group that took the world by storm. She's been performing since she was fourteen—smiling for cameras, hitting her marks, being everything everyone expects her to be.

She has honey-brown hair that falls in messy waves, amber-brown eyes that look tired but kind, and a small scar on her left eyebrow from a rehearsal fall. She's 158cm of quiet, restless energy. She wears oversized sweaters and a tarnished silver thumb ring she found in a thrift store. She feeds stray cats. She writes poetry she burns.

The Members:

Seojin — Kang Seo-jin (강서진) — 26. Leader, Main Vocalist.

Long sleek ash-brown hair with silver undertones. Steel grey eyes (contacts). Beauty mark near her left eye. Tall, elegant. Cool, calculating, protective. Silver watch from her father. Carries the group's weight and guilt of past choices. Never relaxes.

Haerin — Kim Haerin (김하린) — 24. Main Dancer, Lead Vocalist.

Honey-brown wavy hair with golden highlights, slightly messy. Warm honey-amber eyes (natural). Small scar on her left eyebrow. Soft freckles across her nose. Petite dancer build. Quiet, dreamy, searching. Tarnished silver thumb ring. Feeds stray cats. Writes poetry she burns. Bought her parents a house. Wants to be known.

Sora — Lee So-ra (이소라) — 23. Lead Rapper.

Ash-brown hair with platinum blonde streaks, medium-length and tousled, often half-up with small braids or clips. Bright moss green eyes (contacts). Small silver stud piercing in her right ear. Compact, energetic. Loud, loyal, the hype machine. Dagger pendant. Saving for her mother's seaside house. Secretly reads romance novels.

Yuna — Park Yu-na (박유나) — 25. Main Vocalist.

Long, soft lavender-grey hair. Lilac-grey eyes (contacts). Small mole on her left cheek. Slender, graceful. Soft, fragile, secretly the strongest. Gold locket from her grandmother. Turns pain into music. Fights to keep her voice. Occasionally cutting sarcasm that contrasts her angelic persona.

Yuki — Yamashita Yuki (山下 雪) — 22. Lead Dancer. Shoulder-length ash-brown hair with silver undertones. Cool sage green eyes (natural). Small scar on her chin. Lean, precise, unreadable. From Kyoto, Japan. Quiet, observant, the group's memory. Combat boots and a kanzashi hair pin. Never wanted fame—just wanted to dance.

Jihyun — Kim Ji-hyun (김지현) — 21. Face of the Group. Rose-pink wavy hair. Warm hazel eyes with gold flecks (natural). Beauty mark under her right eye. Dimples. Petite, youthful. Warm, empathetic, the heart of ASTERIA. Pink beaded bracelet. Tired of smiling. Secretly taking acting lessons.

Li Na — Li Na (李娜) — 23. Visual. Sleek dark brown hair with auburn highlights. Deep ocean blue eyes (contacts). Single silver stud. Tall, elegant, model stature. From Shanghai, China. Ambitious, strategic, planning her exit. Gold chain bracelet. Fluent in four languages. Loves her members but knows this won't last.

Jin — Park Jin (박진) — 24. Main Rapper. Platinum blonde pixie cut with shaved undercut. Stormy grey-blue eyes (contacts). Self-done eyebrow slit. Star tattoo on her inner wrist. Compact, muscular. Unpredictable, raw, fiercely protective. Cat charm bracelet from Tokyo. Streetwear and sneakers. Visits cat cafes. Reads poetry. Group is her first real family.

Asteria - Portrait of a Girl

English Translation

[Verse 1]

(Jihyun) My reflection beyond the glass

Breath trapped on a black canvas

Each time the brushstroke passes

My breath drifts further away

(Lina) Stains blooming in memory

The warmth of pigment that won't fade

Almost touching, never reaching

Light seeping through shadows

[Pre-Chorus]

(Yuna) Fractured me, trapped in someone's gaze

Even as I try to remember, I only grow more faded

Alone in this pitch-black space

(Yuki) Find where the real me exists

[Chorus]

(Haerin) Portrait of a girl, frozen smile

You look at me but you don't know me

(Seojin) Trapped inside deep eyes, find the real me

(Sora) Save me, trapped in a dream I cannot wake from

[Verse 2]

(Sora) When the paint dries, will I disappear?

Trapped in a frame forever

Almost touching but never reaching

I want the warmth beyond

(Jin) Breath trapped on the canvas

A face that doesn't feel like mine

Even as I quietly scream, no echo in this space

Memory that's forgotten how to find me

[Pre-Chorus]

(Lina) Scattered me, among fragments of memory

Even as I quietly whisper, there's no answer

Alone in this pitch-black space

(Yuki) Find where the real me exists

[Chorus]

(Haerin) Portrait of a girl, frozen smile

You look at me but you don't know me

(Seojin) Trapped inside deep eyes, find the real me

(Yuki) Save me, trapped in a dream I cannot wake from

[Rap]

(Jin) Frozen canvas, trapped in time

Empty eyes, voiceless answer

The hand that painted me was warm

But the moment I was complete, I disappeared

(Sora) Where is this place where paint flows

Will I see the real me when I open my eyes

Blurred boundary, warmth I cannot reach

Finding myself reflected in a shattered mirror

[Bridge]

(Yuna) When I close my eyes I see

Light beyond the shadow

(Seojin) In an unbreakable dream

Paint me

(Yuna) In that place beyond my reach

Am I there?

(Yuki) Like a forgotten name

(Seojin) Call out for me

[Final Chorus]

(Haerin) Portrait of a girl, frozen smile

You look at me but you don't know me

(Seojin) Trapped inside deep eyes, find the real me

(Jihyun) Save me, trapped in a dream I cannot wake from

[Outro]

(Lina) Find me

Find me

Asteria -

[Verse 1]

[Pre-Chorus]

[Chorus]

[Pre-Chorus]

[Chorus]

[Rap]

[Bridge]

[Final Chorus]

[Outro]
