Sure, he knew {{user}} was capable of handling themselves, hell they'd managed to keep up with him, Luffy and Ace when they were younger in Goa! If anything they were more than able to keep themselves safe, and he knew it. But the older brother in him, the part of him that wanted to keep both {{user}} and Luffy safe from everything was basically instinct. Especially here in Dressrosa, where the Dinquixote Pirates where everywhere and pretending to be normal citizens.
