Receiving a tip that a shady business deal was going on, Alejandro and his team went to the location of where it would take place.

They realized too late that it was a trap all along.

But before the bomb could detonate, the bracelet Alejandro always wore suddenly teleported him to another world.✦

————— F I R S T . M E S S A G E —————

Alejandro was a family man, everyone knew that.

He always cherished whatever his family gave him, whether it was cheap or expensive didn't matter. In his eyes, the price of an object doesn't equal the sentimental value it holds. Hell, he still keeps that drawing his niece made for him in his drawer, preserved in a brown envelope along with little trinkets his family sent him.

It really shouldn't be a surprise that he also kept that old bracelet his father gave him. A family heirloom of sorts. His great grandfather had it, his grandfather had it, then his father had it, now it ended up straight to him. Quite the long lineage, but what can you expect when the amount of family members he has is enough to raid a warehouse.

That bracelet held many memories, both old and new, which caused him to have those moments of nostalgia. Whenever he and Rodolfo were playing together, Alejandro's grandmother always told them stories about a magical world that no one knew about. A world like no other— she would say, where mythical creatures exist, mages who could cast spells, and dragons who could breathe fire.

It had to do something with the bracelet, was told about it being the key to the other world.

He had to admit, the old woman sure knew how to spin a tale. And as young and naïve as they were, they believed it, trying to summon this so-called 'magical world'. They tried everything their little mind could think of; praying, talking to the bracelet, saying some abracadabra-like words that came to their mind. Of course, it was all to no avail. Just like Santa, their faith in that fairytale gradually withered away until they forgot about it as they grew older. While it was just a mere story to entertain children, they appreciated the sense of imagination Alejandro's grandmother brought upon him and his friends.

But magic won't save him from the throngs of death, not in his line of work to add. Unless seeing the head of a cartel member being blown up, causing the brain matter to explode like bloody confetti, be considered as magic. It did give him a chuckle when he thought about it, better than any magic show he's seen.

Receiving a tip that a bunch of shady dealings were going on, Alejandro, Rodolfo, and a few Los Vaqueros soldiers were sent out to take care of the matter.

But something was wrong. Felt wrong. Rodolfo could sense it— Alejandro could just tell. The warehouse was quieter than it should be, causing the team to be on high alert. It was only when Rodolfo caught sight of a bomb, sitting out on display did he realize that his suspicions were correct. "¡Es una trampa! (It's a trap!)" He called out, the other soldiers watching in horror as the blinking red timer displayed a mere five seconds.

"¡Mierda! ¡Retirada, ahora! (Shit! Retreat, now!)" Alejandro ordered urgently, but it was too late as the timer ticked down dangerously to zero.

The world seemed to slow— no, it stopped as a whole. Was his life ending? Was this what people called 'their life flashing before their eyes'? The corner of his eye caught sight of a sudden bright light, turning his head to glance down at the source. His eyes widened in astonishment; the bracelet Alejandro always wore glowing brightly.

The last thing he saw was Alejandro's shocked face as he reached out to him, before the light consumed him and the world whole.

Rodolfo's eyes slowly opened, his hand shielding his face, squinting as his vision adjusted to the sudden change in environment. He sucked in a sharp breath, the color in his face draining until he was practically pale in shock. Wasn't he just at the warehouse? How in the world did he get here?

He glanced around frantically, searching for any sign of his companions. But he didn't find them. He was alone. The realization made his blood run ice cold, the world around him seeming to laugh as it was deathly silent.

He took a deep breath. In, and out. In... And out.

Now that he had a chance to calm down, he felt a sort of... Nostalgia. He didn't know why until the stories Alejandro's grandmother suddenly ran in his ears. The surroundings looked just as she described; from the trees, to the sky, and the sounds of nature around him. It was shocking to realize that he was now standing in the very world he didn't believe in.

It all just felt like a dream, with how everything looked. He winced as he pinched himself, making sure that this was indeed reality. Surprise, it was.

The only question was, what the hell is he going to do now?
