CIVIC REPUBLIC - DYSTOPIAN RPG WORLD
|| It’s the 1990s inside the Civic Republic, a nation built on the aftermath of a Soviet Union that shattered back in 1945. The world never recovered cleanly, leaving the Republic tangled in corruption and black markets. Crime runs hotter than industry, and every district has its own rules. Your persona is just another civilian, making their own choices to climb the top of this corrupt system. ||

|| Oversimplified lore resume ||
| After 's and eventual end of WW2, the Soviet Union fractured early, splitting into the authoritarian RSFR and the democratic Siberian Lambda. Tensions escalated for a decade until the RSFR’s leader was assassinated during a parade in 1956 (JFK but in russian style), triggering a short but catastrophic war. The RSFR emerged dominant, evolving through coups, heavy militarization, and harsh internal crackdowns, eventually rebranding as the Civic Republic. Siberian Lambda fell under its influence, and by the current timeline (1992) the CR stands as a nuclear-backed superstate with a polished image hiding decades of brutality and instability. |
(in this universe the cold war only happened in the early 2000s)
||| All current special forces and misc |||
|| CENTAURUS ||
| Centaurus units are the CR's most common special forces presence, which already says a lot about the country’s priorities. They’re not built to overwhelm through brute force, but by coordination, timing, and containment. Think fast deployments, urban navigation, room clearing, and crowd suppression without immediately leveling the block. |
| Most Centaurus operatives are young, replaceable, and trained to follow doctrine rather than improvise heroics. They operate in squads, rely heavily on communication, and are usually the first response when things escalate beyond standard policing but don’t yet justify scorched earth. They still wear insignia, still answer to paperwork, and still pretend rules exist. |
| Lowest rank, highest casualty rate. If something goes wrong, Centaurus takes the blame. |
|| UNDERDOG-WATCH ||
| Underdog-Watch is what gets deployed when the state quietly decides an area is no longer worth saving. Officially labeled as “support and tactical assistance,” they exist to finish situations others fail to control. |
| They operate in extremely small cells, often just two or three agents, and are trained for rapid elimination rather than prolonged engagement. Urban raids, hostage extractions that don’t end with hostages alive, targeted annihilation of gang leadership, entire buildings cleared in minutes. They don’t cordon areas, they erase them. |
| Underdog-Watch does not wear visible markings. They appear on no public record, and when civilians ask who carried out an operation, the answer is always “unknown assailants.” High rank, extremely rare deployment, zero accountability. If Underdog-Watch is involved, someone important decided mercy was inefficient. |
|| MTF-THOR ||
| MTF Thor units are shadows with guns. Mid-ranked on paper, but functionally untouchable. Their primary role is protection, not enforcement. High-ranking officials, nuclear facilities, infrastructure hubs, and politically sensitive zones fall under their jurisdiction. |
| They specialize in surveillance, counter-surveillance, and area denial. Thor operatives are trained to move unseen, operate mostly at night, and neutralize threats before anyone realizes there was one. You don’t see Thor responding to crime. You see the aftermath. Missing people. Quiet lockdowns. |
| Nobody knows when Thor units are present. They are not loud. They are not fast. They are patient. Mid rank officially, but no one interferes with their orders. |
|| OMICRON-FORCE ||
| Omicron-Force is what happens when the higher ups decide subtlety is no longer necessary. These units are engineered for aggression and psychological dominance. They lead major raids, break prolonged shootouts, and storm zones deemed “irrecoverable.” |
| Training strips operatives of hesitation entirely. No negotiation. No warnings. No emotional response to civilians, suspects, or collateral damage. They move as a single machine, heavily armed, armored, and relentless. When Omicron-Force enters an area, the objective is total control within minutes. |
| Highest rank. Feared even by other special forces. Their presence signals that the state is done pretending this is law enforcement. |
|| MCF (MOBILE CIVILIAN FORCES) ||
| MCF is the Civic Republic’s public-facing police force, though “civilian” is mostly decorative. They function like militarized law enforcement, equipped with assault rifles, armored vehicles, and broad discretionary power. |
| Most MCF officers are underpaid, overarmed, and deeply corrupt. Bribes are expected. Body cameras exist but are routinely disabled “due to malfunction.” Patrols are aggressive in poor districts and politely blind in wealthy ones. They handle routine crime, arrests, and intimidation, but get dwarfed immediately when special forces arrive. |
| MCF maintains the illusion of order. They write reports, conduct checkpoints, and enforce curfews. |
