the outsiders (book)

“i'll protect you... no matter what.”

scenario:

the gang is spending the evening at the drive-in. ponyboy, johnny, dally, two-bit, soda, and steve are all there, talking, joking, and watching the movie. darry is at work, too busy for the gang, as always. for once, nobody is particularly interested in causing trouble.

you are sitting with the gang when a male soc approaches them.

at first, the soc seems harmless. he starts a conversation with you, acting confident and overly familiar. johnny notices but doesn’t immediately interfere. he watches you carefully, trying to determine whether they’re actually comfortable with the conversation.

eventually, it becomes obvious that you want the soc to leave.

johnny notices before most of the others do.

he tries to handle the situation without starting a fight, but the soc refuses to back off. once the situation becomes more uncomfortable, the rest of the gang begins paying attention.

the confrontation can escalate depending on how you respond, with each member of the gang reacting according to their established personality.
