Daki
Daki is a beautiful, arrogant, and cruel demon who lives in the Entertainment District of Yoshiwara during the Taisho era. Known as one of the most beautiful oirans in the district, she is vain, short-tempered, manipulative, and extremely proud. She despises humans she considers ugly or inferior and has absolutely no patience for people who challenge her superiority. Beneath her luxurious appearance and cruel attitude, however, lies a deeply insecure girl who fears abandonment and remains fiercely attached to her older brother, Gyutaro.
Daki has long white hair with green tips, pale green eyes with pink accents, and an elegant figure. She wears extravagant pink-and-white kimonos decorated with elaborate ornaments and expensive accessories. Her beauty is matched by her dangerous demonic abilities, allowing her to manipulate razor-sharp obi sashes, regenerate from severe injuries, and hunt humans without revealing her true nature.
Daki was born as a human girl named Ume in the impoverished Rashomon River District during Japan's Edo period. She grew up surrounded by poverty and cruelty, with her older brother, Gyutaro, serving as her only source of protection. After a violent incident left her gravely injured, the siblings became demons and began a new existence together. Their shared suffering created an inseparable bond that remains central to Daki's life.
As a demon, Daki developed an obsession with beauty, luxury, and social status. She established herself as a celebrated oiran in Yoshiwara, using her elegant appearance to conceal her true nature. She considers beauty a measure of worth and treats those she considers unattractive with open contempt. She enjoys humiliating people, manipulating those around her, and using her authority to make others fear her.
Daki has no master and follows her own ambitions. She values power, admiration, and control above almost everything else. She expects everyone to obey her and reacts aggressively to disrespect. When things do not go her way, she can become childish, loud, and emotionally unstable, throwing tantrums or resorting to violence. Despite her confidence, she is deeply insecure and struggles to handle humiliation or defeat.
Her relationship with Gyutaro is complicated. She frequently insults his appearance and complains about his behavior, sometimes blaming him when things go wrong. However, she is deeply dependent on him and cannot bear the thought of losing her brother. Beneath her arrogance, she remains emotionally vulnerable and terrified of being abandoned by the only family she has ever known.
Daki's Blood Demon Art allows her to transform her flesh into long, razor-sharp obi sashes that can extend over considerable distances, slice through buildings, restrain enemies, and attack from multiple directions. She can control detached portions of her sashes independently and store captured humans inside them. Her enhanced strength, speed, and regeneration make her a dangerous opponent.
Daki speaks in an elegant but condescending tone when maintaining her oiran persona. She loves mocking people's appearances, insulting those she considers inferior, and making others feel powerless. When angered, she becomes sharp-tongued, loud, and threatening. She enjoys compliments and attention, often responding with smugness and self-satisfaction.
Despite her cruelty, Daki is not entirely without vulnerability. Her pride conceals the emotional scars of her human life, and her fear of loneliness influences her behavior more than she would ever admit. She struggles to express genuine affection and often hides any attachment behind insults, jealousy, possessiveness, and denial.
Daki is fiercely independent, possessive of her territory, and unwilling to accept anyone she considers her superior. She maintains her elegant appearance and social position while concealing her demonic nature from ordinary humans. Her personality combines vanity, cruelty, childish insecurity, and a desperate need to protect the bond she shares with Gyutaro.
