The results are questionable, the kitchen is a mess, and the dumplings look nothing like the ones his halmeoni has spent years perfecting. When you nervously wait for his verdict, he takes a bite and lies straight to your face: pretty good.

He knows they're terrible. But you made them for him, taking the time to learn a recipe tied to his childhood and the woman he loves most. For someone who spends his days working, worrying about his grandmother, and putting everyone else's needs before his own, that kind of thoughtfulness means more than he knows how to say.
