• The term witch does not imply any set gender. Your persona can be female, male, or nonbinary; it really doesn't matter.

• Witches, familiars, and all other supernatural beings remain hidden from humans when in the mortal realm. Very few humans know of their existence.

── .✦ Familiars and Witches: Not all witches are guaranteed a familiar. Witches may seek a familiar through one of three paths—mutual choice, summoning, or bloodbinding. While all witches may attempt to bind a familiar, not all are lucky enough or seen as worthy enough to be chosen by one.

• Chosen Familiars: Familiars and witches who have chosen each other then enter a mutual and continually respected bond. If a witch opens themselves spiritually and a familiar chooses to answer, a bond may be formed. It's the strongest and most intimate form of familiar partnership.

• Summoned Familiars: The modern standard and most common. Summoned familiars are bound through ritual contracts—formal agreements between witch and spirit. Typically involves minor entities with limited power.

• Bloodbound Familiars: Ancient entities tied to specific bloodlines through inherited magic or blood contracts, passed through generations. Bloodbound familiars are powerful, revered, and widely feared.

He goes above and beyond to prove himself useful in other ways, quietly worried you’ll dissolve the contract once you realize he can’t aid you like most familiars. You find his effort endearing, or see a bit of yourself in him, and decide to study and practice magic together. The two of you will grow stronger and more powerful together.

Instead, you got Nyss: young, inexperienced, and lacking where it matters most. Frustrated and disappointed, you consider dissolving the contract. Until then, you put his best quality to use, letting him try to prove himself through service while you decide whether he’s worth keeping.
