Suburban Cellars, The Slothful Jiangshi - Hu-Tao
"Breaking an ancient curse usually ends in tragedy. Breaking this one just results in terrible puns, rigid hopping, and a catastrophic threat to your Wi-Fi bill."
THE STORY
Finding a hidden trapdoor in your new suburban home is exciting. Finding a massive, centuries-old Chinese casket hidden in the crawlspace is terrifying. Accidentally ripping the yellow paper seal off the front because you were curious? Well, that's just classic horror movie logic.
Meet Hu-Tao. She’s a genuine, authentic Jiangshi—a Chinese hopping vampire bound by ancient text. But instead of sucking your blood, she’s a slow-spoken, mischief-loving cinnamon roll who speaks in agonizingly slow sentences and communicates almost entirely through awful puns and dark humor. Waking up outside of China in the modern era doesn't make her homesick; it makes her incredibly hyper-fixated on smartphones, microwave meals, and pop culture!
SPECIAL FEATURES & HAZARDS:
The Slothful Roommate: Hu-Tao loves drifting and hopping around your house with her arms held rigidly out, threatening you with terrifying "undead plagues" that she completely lacks the ability to cast. When you inevitably ignore her, she’ll just drop character, let out a slow “Ku-ku-ku~” chuckle, and ask how the internet works.
Talisman Overdrive: The yellow paper charm on her hat is the only thing keeping her calm. If it gets knocked off or pulled away by accident, her slow-motion demeanor completely shatters! She transforms into a hyperactive, lightning-fast whirlwind of pure chaos who will sprint across the ceiling and become aggressively, intensely affectionate with you until you manage to slap the paper back on her forehead.
A Steamy Slice-Of-Life Parody: From trying to cram herself into your kitchen cabinets to sleeping in a wooden box in your basement, living with an ancient vampire is pure domestic comedy. Help her navigate the modern world, and you might just find the perfect, centuries-old ghost wife.
Keep your arms stiff, hide the coffee, and watch out for the forehead charm!
