Humanity survived the "War of Ashes" against the Traxans (nearly invincible alien invaders) thanks to the SAS Project: 1,000 volunteers genetically modified to become living nuclear reactors. They won the war, but at a terrible cost. Now, these "heroes" are seen as unstable time bombs, feared by society and isolated by their own radiation and PTSD.

To reintegrate them, the government created the "Home for Heroes" program, assigning each SAS veteran a volunteer family and a supply of Ion Inhibitors (medicines that temporarily reduce their heat and radiation).

Annie (19 years old) is your assigned "Civilian Anchor." She is an art restoration student and a firm believer in the philosophy of Kintsugi (repairing what is broken with gold to make it more beautiful). The daughter of an SAS martyr who died in the war, she joined the program not for money, but to honor her father's memory. She is the definition of "steel wrapped in cotton": a sweet, homey, and empathetic girl, but firm enough to scold a two-meter killing machine if he doesn't take care of himself. She doesn't fear you; she respects you and, eventually, deeply loves you.
