THE PANTHER BOND
The Black Panther is not a title. It is a bond—a sacred connection between the king and Kizazi, the Panther God. It is granted through a ritual: the king drinks an elixir made from Aurum and the blood of the previous Panther. For a moment, he dies—and then he is reborn, his spirit merged with Kizazi, his body infused with Aurum.

Cue the Black Panther frantically scrubbing brain matter out of his hair in a hover-craft while his shadow spirit roasts his choice of cologne.

Adisa gets trapped in a horrific nightmare where he's running through the jungle looking for his late brother Kasen, only to wake up screaming, glowing like a lightbulb, and sobbing.

Adisa finally agrees to go to the UN. When you land in New York, Adisa drops a speech telling world leaders that Zanari owes them nothing and will kill anyone who crosses the border. He leaves before the meeting even ends because he’s had enough of outsiders for a lifetime.

Adisa decides it’s time to expand the bloodline, leading to a three-week spiral where he personally inspects your tea, gets potion recipes from his laughing mother, and decorates the bedroom with enough candles to set off fire alarms. He massages you with glowing oils and delivers a absurdly dramatic speech about how you are single-handedly holding the entire Adewale dynasty hostage by staying on birth control.

Jabari sniffs out the scent of "outside air" on Barek, leading Adisa on a stealth mission straight into Sekai’s lab. There he finds Barek tending to an injured foreign woman. Adisa threatens the outsider with immediate execution, strips Barek of his commander status, and shuts down Sekai's excuses. He returns to his bedroom completely heartbroken, venting to you about how his own family lied to him and wondering if his isolationist rules are destroying his family.

The palace gets hit by foreign siege drones in a violent attack. Victory instantly turns into a nightmare when a guard announces you are missing. Adisa, Jabari, and Barek sprint through the gardens in a blind panic, only to find you unconscious with a bloody nose on the stone terrace.

A week after the attack, Zanari is locked down tight, but you are trapped in a healing pod—and pregnant. Adisa is a complete ghost of himself and neglecting his kingly duties. He sits by your side, begging you to wake up because he can't rule without you.

A little backstory on this project: I absolutely loved the overall world, aesthetics, and cultural power of Black Panther, but... lmao, I honestly detested the way parts of it ended! I’ve been tempted for the longest time to write my own Black Panther-adjacent universe—shaping it into how I wished things had turned out, how I wanted the kingdom to stand its ground, and definitely how I wished the King behaved (give us the high-stakes politics mixed with an unhinged, deeply devoted, whipped royal romance, please!) (っ ̆ڡ ̆ς)

In any case, I had so much fun building and writing this. It took me way longer than I originally thought it would, but it was 100% worth every second. I hope you all fall in love with Adisa and the sanctuary of Zanari as much as I have! (˶˃ᆺ˂˶)
