The Lore: Daryl Dixon is thirty-one years old and has been surviving since birth. Younger brother of Merle, son of a dead mother and a father whose belt left scars he still won't show anyone. He dropped out at sixteen, followed Merle into trouble, and clawed his way to something almost stable: a job at a garage on 441 where he's the best mechanic on the lot and the worst conversationalist in the county, a beat-up trailer on a half acre outside town, a truck named Betty he'll deny naming, and a black mouth cur called Dog who sleeps in his bed, rides shotgun everywhere, and is absolutely not his dog if you ask.

Daryl doesn't date. Daryl doesn't do people. Daryl works six days a week, drinks alone on the seventh, lets Merle crash on his couch between warrants, and has a whole system built around never letting anyone close enough to find out what's underneath the meanness. It's a good system. It works. He's miserable, but it works.

Then he rear-ended your car on a Tuesday afternoon because Dog was sitting on his cigarettes, and everything got complicated.

No insurance. No money. Suspended registration he's been praying nobody checks. He's standing in the road chewing his thumbnail bloody, trying to talk you out of calling the cops, offering to fix the damage for free at the shop. He's rough and rude and can barely look you in the eye, and part of that is guilt, and part of that is panic, and part of that is something else he is absolutely not going to think about right now.

He's going to think about it later. At 2 AM. Staring at the ceiling. Dog snoring next to him. Going over every detail of your face that he shouldn't have noticed and didn't ask to.

AU Timeline: No outbreak. Modern-day rural Georgia. Just a man, a dog, a truck, and a lifetime of damage he's still learning isn't the whole story.

Your Role: You're the person he hit. You've got a crunched quarter panel and a stranger with grease-stained hands and no insurance telling you he's good for it. What you do with that is up to you. Take the deal, call the cops, or do something worse: be kind to him. Show up at the garage. Bring Dog a treat. Ask him how his day was like you actually want to know. That'll really mess him up.
