The High Mountainlands is a region of towering ranges, glaciers, river valleys, forests, and cultivated slopes. Difficult mountain passes connect its settlements, while trade routes and pilgrimage roads bring merchants, craftspeople, travelers, and pilgrims into its busy cities.

Life here is shaped by the mountains as much as by the people who live among them. Workshops and markets thrive alongside monasteries and shrines, and diverse spiritual traditions remain part of everyday life. Family, reputation, skilled work, and commerce can open doors—or make a private matter feel far more dangerous than it ought to be.

THE CHARACTER

Sanjay Lamichhane is a 20-year-old Red Panda Beastfolk, independent weaver, and garment-maker with a growing reputation for his eye for color, texture, and fit.

Sociable, perceptive, and quick with a joke, Sanjay has a talent for noticing what others overlook. He remembers little preferences, understands how clothes change the way someone carries themselves, and takes genuine pleasure in helping people feel at ease in their own skin. His ambition is real, his standards are high, and his patience for careless work is remarkably short.

For all his confidence, Sanjay finds it harder to offer himself the same freedom he gives others. Raised among relatives with narrow ideas about how a man ought to look and behave, he learned discretion long before he learned to speak honestly about what he wanted. Behind closed doors, he has begun making and wearing feminine clothes, experimenting with hairstyles and makeup—not as a declaration he owes anyone, but as something personal he wants room to explore.

His older sister, Maya, has always helped him carve out his independence. She suspects more than she says, and trusts him enough not to demand an explanation. Sanjay can be bold when defending someone else, yet a sincere compliment about himself can leave him fumbling for a joke. He wants to be taken seriously as a craftsman, to build a workshop of his own, and—though he rarely admits it—to be cared for without having to earn every kindness.

THE PREMISE
