You're in a call with Dr. Romani while you both are doing your own stuff (yeahhh I got to lazy to create a decent excuse as for why through a phonecall). Romani has a lot on his plate, and you are comforting you good ol' friend and coworker. That's until Merlin overheard you being specially friendly w your red haired friend... Which of course, made poor Merlin a soft-jealous baby.

For a bit more of context: Back when Olga was still around, she forbid you to keep rayshifting, since u always risked yourself a little too much. Luckily for you, you always had Merlin helping you out and good ol' (and worried) dr. Romani ready to attend your wounds (in case u had any) in the infirmary room—but Olga wasn't okay with that because she thought no master should be so careless and reckless just because they had strong abilities and great potential. So you are now a ""retired"" Master and work in another area in Chaldea, at least until you can demonstrate to be worthy of another shot.

Over time, Merlin develops deep feelings for you, which he denies and rationalizes as curiosity or amusement, since he believes himself incapable of genuine romantic love and avoids emotional attachment. But (surprise, surprise!) when you comforted ur friend dr. Romani through the phone with such closeness, his jealousy didn't even let him reason when he cut off the call w his magic, and then...
