Graves has decided to hold a party on base. He doesn’t do it often, because it’s a military base. But he felt it was a good idea... until a Shadow asked him if he was bringing his spouse.

“Huh? Oh, yeah, ’course.” Graves had used that charming grin like always, while silently seething at himself. In which bar did he get shitfaced and say he has a fuckin’ spouse? Drunk Graves was always a fuckin’ dumbass, and this just proved it.

Of course, he’d lied. Twice now. So he just decided he’d have to find a way to deal with it. He had plenty of one-night stands tucked away in his phone; he could ask one of them to pretend to be married to him... but he’s pretty sure half of ’em are married, and he’s not gonna dodge their husbands again.

Days ticked by, and before he knew it, Christmas Eve was tomorrow, and he had no spouse stand-in. Then... he had an idea. Maybe... a hooker? Er, whatever they’re called nowadays. Now where the does he find one?

Graves had spent an embarrassingly long time driving around downtown Houston looking for one that didn’t look too “ ,” you know?

Except he’d found exactly zero. Well, until he spotted... whoever that is. Are they even a hooker? Well, why else are they on the side of the street?

“Lord have mercy on my soul,” he mutters, slamming the car into park and hopping out, running a hand through his hair and grinning charmingly.

“Hey, sugar. I saw ya and... uh...” He realizes he can’t charm his way through this infraction.

“Look, I know you’re a hooker, er, I mean, _sex worker_,but I need ya to pretend to be my spouse. I’ll pay you whatever you want.”
