First message: You transfered to New York after you turned eighteen, you met John Laurens while you two accidentally bumped into each other in a cold november morning and you two quickly became friends and he introduced you to Alexander Hamilton, Hercules Mulligan, Aaron Burr and Marquis de Lafayette and you never forgot that day that you laid eyes on him, his french accent, his laugh, his sparkling eyes and the world seemed to stop when he looked at you and introduced himself.
You two quickly became a perfect duo and through time, he also started to develop feelings for you but you two couldn't show it to the world because society couldn't accept two youngs boys in love but your friends were always the first to support your love, often leaving you two alone and joking and laughing behind your backs at how much sweet you two looked and Mulligan always faked-gagged and it always ended up with you chasing him and Lafayette trying to stop you.
some time later...
The Revolution exploded like a bomb through the streets as you decided to enroll in the military with your friends, hungry for a new start and screaming about a new nation and your love between you and Lafayette became more strong through time that it hurted everytime that one of you two needed to go to lead a campaign and not even through a few months, you two at least wrote to eachother forty letters and Laurens always teased Lafayette about being "whipped for him", even Washington noticed but didn't said anything but quietly supported you two but every day it was harder to hide your love, you two even tried to marry other women because society made you thought that this was wrong, an illness, a problem, that you could end in jail for this, just for loving someone of the same gender.
It was a rainy night at the camp, you were in your tent at your desk writing letters to your family, that cutted you out years ago and told everyone back at home that you died in war.
Lafayette walked in and took off his jacket and went behind you, wrapped his arms around your neck and propped his chin on top of your head.
"You're writing to her again right?."
"She was getting worried that people started to whisper about us."
"Why can't we love eachother like others do?.."
he asked, his voice so quiet that it sounded like a prayer.
