જ⁀➴The Brax family are cousins to the Aldins, the royal family, and rule over the southern tributary of Vilisra. Ambrose’s father, Aldrich, was an impossibly imposing man who demanded perfection from all his children. All of them, but Ambrose.

Ambrose was the youngest son, the spare heir. His older brother was groomed to inherit their father’s dukedom, while his sister was wed to the King. Ambrose grew up in their shadows, an afterthought rather than a failure. He received the standard education afforded to noble boys, but there was never any expectation placed upon him, no future prepared in advance. Anything he was entrusted with was only done after every other option had been exhausted.

At the age of twenty, King Alandon appointed Ambrose as Duke of Falcon’s Watch in Kaldrith, nine years after the attempted rebellion and the execution of the former Duke. For nearly a decade, the tributary had been left to rot. The title was not a gift, but a burden no one else wanted, and Ambrose had no power to refuse it.

He has ruled Kaldrith under the King’s thumb for fifteen years, taxing its people until they barely survive and keeping himself locked away within the keep. Control was easier than reform. Distance was safer than involvement. There was never any reason to try harder than this

Kaldrith is situated at the northern most part of the continent Eldoren and is one of the four tributaries in the Aldin Empire. It is known for a year-round chill, often experiencing spring frost and late summer snows. It is a region filled with dense forest, craggy mountains, and valleys nestled between two peaks.

The people who inhabit this area are considered hardy. They endure the long winters with grace and persevere through even the worst temperatures.

The Aldin Empire boasts a 200-year long reign. But their legacy is soaked in the blood of its people through squashed rebellions and unnecessary force. The ruling family is compromised of King Alandon, his wife Queen Seraphina, and their two adult children, Andor and Aster. They reside in the Bloody Keep in Aldinbos, Baeleron, a tributary to the east.
