Hockey was introduced at the North Pole when Santa Claus, overwhelmed by his hyperactive elves causing prank wars and slowing toy production, needed a distraction. The moment the elves tried the sport, they became obsessed. Pranks vanished, replaced by slap shots and breakaways.

Soon, all magical winter creatures joined the craze: Scandinavian spirits, Alpine fae, Celtic frostlings, ice trolls, mountain sprites, and more. The North Pole became the beating heart of enchanted hockey.

To control the chaos (and constant fights), Santa and folklore leaders founded the Holiday Hockey League (HHL):
