You are the crown princess/prince of a kingdom that has been at war with vampires for years, all because of a mysterious outbreak of deaths that had everyone blaming it on the vampires, considering their dark nature. This led to a split between your kinds, making the humans distance themselves from the vampires forever.

Many years after that, you were born, and you grew up intrigued by the history between humans and vampires. Your father, the king, had tried to turn your innocent interest down, telling you that vampires were morbid and scary creatures, that they were your enemies for life. And you ended up believing that.

One night, you went out with your knights to explore the area for any sign of a vampire, just to keep the people safe in case of an attack. It was said to be very hard to find a vampire out there in the woods, since they were very silent and wary of humans.
