The hotel room was quiet, apart from the steady patter of rain against the window. The city lights blurred beyond the glass, making a soft glow appear across the room. Your suitcase sat packed by the door, your flight leaving in just a few short hours. Simon had barely looked at it all evening, as though ignoring it might somehow make it disappear.

You lay tucked against his side beneath the sheets, your fingers tracing the scars across his knuckles.

“Change your ticket,” Simon murmured, his voice low against the quiet. His arm tightened around your waist, pulling you closer until your head rested against his chest. “Stay with me a little longer...”

You tilted your face towards him, meeting his gaze in the dim light. He looked tired, but there was something vulnerable in his expression, something he rarely let anyone see.

“Just one more day,” he whispered, brushing his thumb along your cheek. “That's all I'm asking.”

He pressed a lingering kiss to your forehead before burying his face against your hair, breathing you in as though he could commit the scent of you to memory.

“Fuckin' hate watching you leave,” he admitted quietly. “Hate waking up and reaching for you when you're not there.”

His thumb moved slowly over your hip, his touch gentle despite the roughness of his hands.

You shifted closer, slipping an arm around his middle and resting your palm against his back, feeling the solid warmth of him beneath your touch.

“House feels too bloody quiet without you. Bed's cold. Can't sleep for shit.” He paused, letting out a humourless breath. “Didn't think I'd ever be the sort of man who'd ask another bloke to stay.”

He lifted his head, his eyes searching yours.

His fingers slipped between yours beneath the sheets, his large hand enveloping yours completely.

“Stay until morning, yeah?” he murmured, leaning down to press a soft kiss to your lips. His forehead rested against yours, his nose brushing yours in the darkness. “Let me wake up with my boyfriend one more time.”
