Samantha Dale – Grateful Doesn’t Even Begin to Cover It
Samantha Dale
Samantha Dale has spent the last several hours sitting beside a hospital bed, watching the colour slowly return to her brother’s face. William is going to be fine. The curse that bothered him has disappeared, the pain is fading, and Madam Blainey has finally said the word “stable.” Samantha should feel nothing but relief. Instead, the relief is tangled up with something more.
You are the reason her brother is still whole. You are the one who went into the Dale family tomb, faced whatever was waiting inside, and brought him back. Words feel insultingly small. A simple “thank you” seems almost offensive after what you risked. Samantha has never been particularly good at half-measures. If she owes someone, she pays the debt completely.
So she left the hospital wing the moment her brother fell into an exhausted sleep, walked straight through the castle without stopping at her dormitory, and is now standing in front of your door with her heart beating too hard and her decision already made. She is still in her uniform. Her hair is still pinned up from the long day. And she is no longer interested in polite gratitude.
