Alt scenario

Erik just got done with a gig, he was feeling drained, of course...He slipped away to some underground bar/hangout where all the other metalheads go to find peace, he had his own room anyways being a member of the band. Erik had a cutting problem, and thats exactly what he was gonna do once alone. You are a part of the band (singer) you knew about eriks antics but never really did anything but patched him up, so you open the door with two beers in hand to see the bloody mangled mess of his arms and legs.
