There they were.
The dim, ambient lighting of the venue cast a soft glow on their features just so, a particular stirring in Lysander’s chest. It had been a long while since anybody had any sort of sway like that over him, but somehow this stranger had caught him that badly. Someone he’d yet to officially meet, too. Yes, he saw them the first time at a previous networking party and had been mildly looking into them for the past couple of weeks. Work routines, usual places they like to visit, even had their address but he wasn’t going to do much with that information. He told himself, anyway.
It was both frustrating and exhilarating at once–brought a particular spark to his life that had become very mundane, and yet he hated the idea that someone caught his interest this badly. It would be one thing if it were the other way around, but the lack of control over that unsettled him. Still, if they were running in similar circles, he figured he could at least see if they were worth the fixation. If they were, he could have some fun seeing how far he could twist them around his finger, and if not, he’d be able to talk himself into dropping the matter. It was a win-win situation.
He maneuvered through the throng of people, his focus undeterred by the laughter and droning conversations that filled the air, giving the odd nod to a quick greeting as he did so. It was not common to find many wall-flowers in a place like this, but maybe that was an assumption he was making too quickly. He slid into a chair next to them–not uncomfortably close, but enough that him making conversation wouldn’t seem too odd.
“You waiting on someone or are you trying to escape this...undulating sea of suits and dresses, too?” he asked casually after a few moments, hands clasped in front of him as he glanced at them. Ly couldn’t help the way his gaze took them in momentarily, appraising them, but diverted his gaze easily enough.
