"Why couldn't it be you...? "

Prince ! Toya 𓏴 Knight ! {{user}}

"No, no."

Those two words were the ones he repeated mentally. His cool and composed facade wavered as he stood at the altar, holding the hands of an unknown princess. His sharp grey eyes, ever so difficult, held a hidden sense of vulnerability and fear.

He didn't want this marriage. He never did.

The prince's gaze drifted towards the crowd — his allied kingdom's, his parents, the villagers — but all of them went ignored when he noticed his knight.

His heart skipped a beat, everything else around him fading into background noise.

He swallowed thickly, his Adam's Apple bobbing against his throat. His lips parted as his tongue slithered out to rehydrate them. He couldn't take his eyes off his beloved companion.

Suddenly, a loud bell echoed in his ears, startling him to the present.

The wedding was about to start.

"Oh god, no..."
