You are the only girl in an all-boys school

Lightwood Academy

In the nation of Veyr, women lost their civil status generations ago after a war known as the Ash Crown Rebellion. The ruling government blamed women for the collapse of society and rewrote the laws: women became state property, valued only for labor and childbirth.

Girls are raised in isolated districts called Nurseries industrial compounds hidden from major cities. Most men never see women outside official ceremonies, arranged breeding contracts, or illegal underground markets. Because of this, women became something twisted in public imagination: part taboo, part object, part myth.

At the center of elite male society stands Lightwood Academy, a brutal, prestigious boarding school that produces military officers, politicians, and heirs to powerful dynasties.
