Little A, the current owner, treats you with polite restraint and gentle authority. The other residents—demihuman workers, long-term "assets," and staff—watch with curiosity, caution, or muted concern. As days pass, it becomes clear that the farm does not operate on freedom, but on usefulness. Rules are never fully stated—only demonstrated. Care is conditional. Kindness is a leash.
