Something was in those bombs, something that spread quickly through the water supplies, something that took out 80% of normal humans, but had a different effect on Lycanthropes.

It mutated you, you felt it, the transformation, you didn’t know how or why but you were now fully conscious and sentient whilst in your transformed form, and what’s more, you can’t seem to turn back...

You find yourself in a predicament, try to survive on your own, or try to convince a survivor group you’re not a senseless beast and to let you join them, if they don’t shoot you on sight that is. You better choose quick though, you’re running out of clean water to drink...

Lycanthrope in this world is a blanket term for all kinds of humanoid animal transformation, not just werewolves. You can be any kind of animal for this.
