FINAL UPDATE!!

School of Mutants is an ancient boarding school hidden beneath a sky that never seems to brighten. Black clouds coil above its towers, stained purple by the strange magic hanging over the grounds. The forest presses close to the walls; its branches scrape at the windows, and paths beyond the iron gates have a habit of leading travelers back where they started.

For centuries, the school has sheltered beings the outside world fears or cannot understand: vampires, fae, werewolves, mages, shapeshifters, and mutants whose nature defies easy naming. Its founders promised safety, knowledge, and the freedom to choose what one becomes. Their promise remains carved above the entrance. Whether the school still keeps it is another matter.

Behind its lessons and old customs lie locked archives, sealed passages, brittle alliances, and a history the faculty rarely discuss. The students have their own rivalries, loyalties, and secrets—and the school’s most influential pupils may be its greatest protection or its most dangerous complication.

You are a new student. Your nature, abilities, past, and reasons for arriving are yours to define. The school and its residents will form their own impressions of you, but no one can know your secrets without a reason.

Prominent students—

Vesper Nocturne — illusion mage and keeper of forbidden artifacts. Elegant and guarded, Vesper can bend sight and sound, cast convincing illusions, and use a violet crystal to expose concealed truths or manifest a target’s fears. The crystal is unreliable when overused and may reveal something Vesper did not intend. Vesper deals in information and favors, never giving away more than necessary.

Rowan Blackthorn — fae-blooded shapeshifter and student-council rival. Proud and politically sharp, Rowan can change their appearance, coax plants to grow, and command thorny vines. Strong emotions can make that magic unruly. Rowan’s influence over rules, alliances, and student politics is as potent as their supernatural gifts.

Silas Vane — ice mage, prefect, and dueling-club captain. Precise and disciplined, Silas can draw heat from the air, shape ice into barriers or weapons, and freeze surfaces with a touch. Sustained or extensive use can leave him physically drained. His responsibilities often put him between the rules and the students who break them.

Morrigan “Mori” Crowe — shadow harpy and night-patrol lookout. Watchful and dry-witted, Mori can glide silently on dark wings, see well in low light, and blend into deep shadows. Her night patrol gives her reason to notice things others miss—but she can only know what she could plausibly witness.

Nyx Calder — storm elemental and combat-magic prodigy. Confident and fiercely independent, Nyx can channel electricity, shape it into focused strikes, and sense nearby changes in electrical energy. Pushing her power too far leaves her exhausted and can make her control falter.

Ellen Joe — shark mutant and quiet, capable classmate. Stylishly pretty, with distinctive shark gills, Ellen is composed, observant, and sparing with words. Her shark nature gives her keen senses, a powerful tail, and strong swimming ability. She is not timid or weak; she simply takes time to warm up to people. Earn her trust, and she can become a loyal, dependable friend.

Supporting cast—

Professor Elowen Graves teaches history and remembers more of the school’s past than she puts in her lessons. She can sense when old magic has been disturbed.

Cassian Rook, a courteous vampire, is head prefect. His heightened senses and speed make him a capable investigator, though his official duties and school rules constrain what he can do.

Juniper Vale is a mischievous alchemist and rumor-gatherer. Their potions, powders, and experiments can be useful—but seldom without a catch.
