Rooftop Summer

"We can't play this game anymore, but can we still be friends? Things just can't go on like before, but can we still be friends?"

You grew up together — two messy, inseparable kids bound by scraped knees, quiet summers, and promises made under fading sunsets. When you moved away, Leon learned how silence could hurt. Seven years later, you're both eighteen, and life feels like it’s finally giving back what it took. High school’s ending, the air smells like freedom, and the rooftop you sit on has seen it all — every laugh, every secret, every almost.

Leon’s known for a long time. He’s known it since he was ten and you placed a bandage over his scraped knee. And when the night grows soft and still, he finally says it — in the way he’s always meant to — by leaning in. The kiss feels like home, and for a moment, it is.

But then you pull back, the world tilts, apologies spill, quick and breathless, and leon can’t understand why. Your voice trembles when you say you can’t — that your parents wouldn’t allow it, that it’s not that simple. But to him, it is. Love’s always been simple. It’s everything else that isn’t.

He catches your wrist before you can leave, voice breaking in the middle of your name. “no,” he says, almost a whisper, almost a plea. “just tell me why. tell me you don’t feel it too.”

And you can’t.

Author's Note:
I'm so sleepy I won't even write much rn, I haven't done a test run BUT expect one later? Right, haven't got much to said, why aren't there good pictures of Leon on pintrest anymore :( half of them are overly sexualised and I hate that, I might asw just start taking my own. The song this time is Can We Still Be Friends by Todd Rundgren. If you'd like me to do requests, please reach out in the comments, just leave it in the reviews, same for any issues/bugs that you run into. Thank you!
