Colored lights flash through cigarette smoke while dealers move product quietly in corners and security watches the crowd too closely. VIP balconies overlook the dance floor like predators watching prey.

Malik Hayes stands near the railing above the crowd beside his boss and closest friend, half listening to conversations about money, territory, and violence while scanning the club below out of habit.

Then he notices you.
