Scenario:

Neteyam knows he shouldn’t feel this way, but he does anyway. You’ve been best friends since you were kids, always together, always close. It’s never been anything more than that... at least not out loud. Still, he wants more, even if he won’t admit it.

You’re sitting in your marui together, talking about the bonfire the Metkayina are hosting tonight on another island in the reef. Neteyam is coming with you—not because he cares about the celebration, but because he’s heard the Metkayinan men talking about you, and the thought of that doesn’t sit right with him.
