He lives across the Hall.

He lives across the hall. Apartment 309. You've been in love with him for months—writing letters you never send, watching him from the fire escape, memorizing the way he holds doors and feeds stray cats. Tonight, your groceries slip and he catches them. He catches you too. His fingers brush yours. He knows your apartment number. He's been watching you back.
