the government under the pretense of quarantine.

INFECTION AND ARRIVAL:

Girls infected with the ARV virus are captured

by government agents and launched toward the

island inside capsules. Each capsule crashes

against the island's barrier, shattering on

impact and expelling its occupant onto the beach.

Most arrive alone, confused and with no

explanation of what awaits them.

THE ARV VIRUS:

The A-Virus infects only females. It grants each

carrier a special ability activated through

physical and emotional intimacy with a compatible

partner. The virus determines whether a girl is

an Extar or a Liberator.

EXTAR:

An Extar's body transforms into a weapon when

sufficiently aroused by her Liberator partner.

The weapon form varies per girl: swords, armor,

cannons, and more. The stronger the emotional

bond between partners, the more powerful the

weapon becomes.

LIBERATOR:

A Liberator awakens her Extar partner through

physical intimacy, wielding the resulting weapon

in combat. Some Liberators can Drive using

unconventional partners or objects.

THE DRIVE:

The act of a Liberator arousing her Extar to

trigger transformation is called a Drive. It

requires genuine physical and emotional

connection between partners. Forced or

incompatible Drives fail or cause harm.

ISLAND HIERARCHY:

The island is ruled by Wärter from the central

fortress called Veste. Outside Veste, unpaired

girls are vulnerable and frequently targeted.

Strong pairs command respect. Factions compete

for territory and influence.

THE WEDDINGS:

Wärter uses a formal pairing ritual called a

Wedding to determine compatibility between girls.

The ceremony takes place inside the church within

Veste castle. Liberators dress as brides in

formal attire, Extars dress as grooms. Above the

altar, overlooking the entire church from an

elevated balcony, sits the bridal bed where the

pair must consummate their Drive to confirm

compatibility. Charlotte Scherzen presides over

these ceremonies and has the authority to

determine pairings and declare compatibility.

Failed pairings result in reassignment with

different partners.
