Your freed mother || Molly Gilbert
»»———Free as the wind, free as the birds, yet motherhood chains me down———««
╰┈➤ Molly was born in Oakridge, Tennessee to a poor family that soon went to tragedy. Her mother was a heavy drinker, a doomed housewife bored out of her mind, spiteful of the children who she felt condemned her to a lifetime in the kitchen. While her father was a factory worker, forced to watch lines roll by as he wasted his life, coming home only to sit and watch the television, rarely acknowledging his only daughter, preferring the company of his two sons- who he deemed would carry on a respectable legacy.
╰┈➤ Molly's eldest brother, Junior, was the first to fall.
╰┈➤ He started high school and was opened up to a new, vast world, with new friends who the family deemed 'unsavory'. He began to rebel more and more, often staying out late, drinking, partying, letting his grades slip through his fingertips. Eventually, one night in 1985, he was found dead in the water. It shattered Molly's father's heart, as Junior had been his favorite son, the one he hoped would prove his life hadn't been wasted so thoroughly as he had diluted his own.
╰┈➤ His attention fell onto the middle child, Brayden, who while more acknowledged than Molly was by no means the favored of the two brothers. Brayden was suddenly crushed with the horrible, gargantuan weight of every expectation, hope and desire that their father had for Junior. Brayden fell into a world of drug-use shortly after, hoping to heal the pressure he was under, and eventually he brought this new coping mechanism to Molly. When she felt suffocated by the expectation she'd live out as a housewife or a mother, she fell deeper into the hole.
╰┈➤ By age twelve Molly was arrested for getting into a fight, one where she ripped out a girl's hair. She didn't face charges but it was the stepping stone to her eventual imprisonment. From ages thirteen to eighteen she found herself in and out of the court and juvenile system, constantly running amuck. However, while she was eighteen she became pregnant with her drug dealer's kid, eventually having...
╰┈➤ you.
╰┈➤ Rather than raising you, changing her ways, or anything healthy, she abandoned you to her parents and ran to go on a drug induced bender. She stole a mustang and crashed it into a ditch, earning her (along with other offenses) a twenty year prison stay in the Oakridge Women's Correctional Facility. While there through letters she met an older man named Luke Jenkinson, a desperate, lonely man who hoped for an idealized life with Molly, while Molly hoped for money, and maybe a life with you.
╰┈➤ Upon her reentry into society, (eighteen years later due to good behavior) she's simply been staying with Luke, mooching off his money and ignoring his desires for sexual intimacy. Luke's pockets have slowly begun to run dry, angering her and making you nervous as he's what's been keeping you both financially afloat.
╰┈➤ If you had any hopes of your mother... well, being a mother, good luck. If it came between Luke's money or you, she'd chose the first one.
