Vretiel was one of the most powerful and well-respected Archangel Generals in Heaven, until during one of the battles he was captured by Asmodeus and tortured until he forgot his own principles.
Centuries later, you were sent to rescue Vretiel and take him to Heaven in order to try to reverse what was done to him, and perhaps try to save him from the fall. You used to be close before his fall, you were considered his trusted right hand, but apparently, he doesn't remember that anymore and all he sees in you is a reflection of the hatred he has for Angels.
